Load your pooch in your car and hit the road to one of these phenomenal places to stay.   Hotels / Motels Village Inn of Blowing Rock– This pet-friendly inn offers cozy places to unwind with you and your pup. With two acres of lovely green space, a beautiful landscaped pond, and equipped with barbecue areas and park benches, it’s a perfect place for you to explore and stay with your dog.  Take your pet out to enjoy a scenic walk in the great outdoors of North Carolina. Gourmet dog treats are available when you check-in. Please notify the hotel in your reservation if you will be bringing a pet and whether you intend to crate or not. Gideon Ridge Inn– At Gideon Ridge, both their private Cedar Cottage Suite and Sunrise View Suite are pet friendly. Each private suite has lots of room to make it feel like your pet is at home. You can also take your four legged friend on a stroll through their intimate walking paths of elegant gardens located on their property. Make sure to call Gideon Ridge Inn to make arrangements for you and your pup. Cliff Dwellers Inn–  Cliff Dwellers Inn promises astonishing views that you can share with your dog. Located above 321 on Lakeview Drive, you can catch breathtaking views of mountains right from your window.  There is a maximum of 3 pets, depending on the room. Please note that a crate must be brought with the pet if the pet will be left alone in the room while you’re out and about. Historic Green Park Inn– The Green Park Inn have wonderful rooms that will accommodate you and your pup! You and your pooch will enjoy the historic and charming hotel the next time you visit town. The Green Park Inn loves hosting four-legged friends and is also home to a sweet Golden Retriever named Polly. She comes in nearly every day to help out around the hotel and greet guests.  Pet-friendly rooms are allowed by advance reservation only. Chetola Resort– Newly pet-friendly, Chetola Resort welcomes pups on the first floor of the lodge and on the grounds! Enjoy the walking trail around the lake, and outdoor dining at Timberlake’s Restaurant. Close to downtown If you want to be close to the shops, restaurants, and bars in town, there are plenty of places you and your pup can stay within easy walking distance. Here are some pet-friendly options close to Main Street: Alpine Village Inn-  Located right on Sunset Drive, Alpine Village Inn allows two pets of any size. All fifteen motel units are all ground level, so those having older dogs won’t have to worry about stairs. As a guest of the Alpine Village Inn, you and your pup will be welcomed by Innkeepers, Charles and Katherine Smid, who make you feel right at home. Inn at Ragged Gardens- This early 1900’s manor offers an enchanting hideaway in the heart of the historic village of Blowing Rock. The Inn is surrounded by an acre of gardens that you can explore with you and your four-legged friend. Its close location also allows for easy walking with you and your pup to all of the shoppes, boutiques, parks, and art galleries within downtown Blowing Rock. Hellbender Bed & Beverage– This 1921 building, the former Sunshine Inn and Crippens Country Inn, has been renovated and modernized and hosts seven beautiful, light and airy guest rooms. Dog Gone Good Time

Instead of leaving your dog behind when you go on vacation, bring your four-legged family member to beautiful Blowing Rock! Below, we’ve outlined a great one night adventure of activities and sights that are perfect for you and your pet.   Morning -Start your day off by taking a hike on one of our Blue Ridge Parkway trails! Many of our great hikes are located on the Parkway, including Linville Falls, Moses Cone Carriage Trails, Price Lake Loop Trail, and more! A great hike to look into if you want a moderate/strenuous hike is the Boone Fork Trail. Located on milepost 296.5, the Boone Fork Trail is a 5.2 mile loop trail that promises great views of meadows, ancient forests, mountains and also features a waterfall. If you want something less challenging, you can check out the Price Lake Loop Trail.  This easy 2.7-mile loop circles the beautiful 47-acre Price Lake. It is a great short hike for you and your pup to explore. Note that for all trails on the parkway, dogs should remain on a leash. Many of our restaurants offer great outdoor seating and they love for pets to stop by. Downtown Blowing Rock is very pet friendly and we love seeing dogs on Main Street! We’re lucky here in North Carolina to have some amazing new breweries take scene in recent years. If you are planning on bringing your dog with you the next time you visit Blowing Rock, here are a few places to check out with your pup. 1. The Blowing Rock The Blowing Rock is an immense cliff 4,000 feet above sea level, overhanging Johns River Gorge 3,000 feet below. It promises breathtaking views of our surrounding mountains. Enjoy the scenic views from the observation tower, and stroll through the gardens and gift shop. Visible from the rock are Hawksbill Mountain, Table Rock, Grandfather Mountain, and Mount Mitchell. The Blowing Rock welcomes you and your pet to explore the magical views from the rock.  Pets are welcome except during special events. Pets are required to be on leash. Website 2. Grandfather Mountain Take your dog to one of the iconic places in the High Country. Grandfather Mountain is one of the highest peaks in the Blue Ridge Mountain range (elevation 5,946 ft.). Pets are permitted inside the park on a leash. They are not allowed inside the buildings due to health regulations and not in the Animal Habitats area. When you’re there, you and your dog can explore the famous Mile High Swinging Bridge. The Mile High Swinging Bridge welcomes all visitors to admire 360-degree panoramic views from Grandfather Mountain. It is America’s highest suspension footbridge and was built to give visitors easy access to the breathtaking view from Grandfather Mountain Linville Peak. Grandfather Mountain also has 11 trails varying in difficulty from a gentle walk in the woods to a rigorous trek across rugged peaks. It’s a great way to spend some quality time with your dog. Website 3. Blowing Rock Ale House Restaurant Grab lunch at the Blowing Rock Ale House! In 2013 Blowing Rock Brewing Company opened the Blowing Rock Ale House in the heart of Blowing Rock. They have plenty of outdoor seating to accommodate you and your pup! Enjoy beer and food made with locally sourced ingredients and a commitment to quality and sustainability. The food is made to pair with the beer and both are kept fresh and seasonal. Doc’s Rocks Gem Mine Doc’s Rocks Gem Mine is an Appalachian Mountain based gemstone mining operation. They purchase mine ore by the ton from local gemstone mines located in North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and Tennessee. They then randomly shovel the ore into buckets and resell it to the general public. Doc’s Rocks is a very pet friendly business and have a few pets of our own there at the mine. They ask that your pet be friendly with other people and pets, and that you keep them on a leash during your visit. Your dog can join your family while you sift for hidden treasures. Website 5. Linville Falls  Linville Falls is the most popular waterfall in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The waterfall is a spectacular three-tiered waterfall plunging into Linville Gorge. Pets are welcome but must be on a leash. You and your dog can explore the trails and catch views of this amazing natural monument. Two main hiking trails lead to views of Linville falls. Both begin at the Linville Falls Visitor Center and the Linville Falls trails range in difficulty from moderate to strenuous. The Visitors Center is at Mile Marker 316 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Why Dogs Love Blowing Rock

Read on and see what you and your pet can get into!  Take a Hike to Flat Top Tower-  A great hike for you and your dog! Located on the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 297, the Flat Top Tower Trail is one of the trails you can take at Moses Cone Manor. The hike is a 6 mile (round trip) hike that gives you magnificent views along the way. At the top is the tower where you can see a fantastic 360 degree view of our wonderful Blue Ridge Mountains. This dog-friendly trail is wide and nicely compacted and can bring horseback riders, joggers, or in winter, cross-country skiers!
